Good question. No it would not matter if you used a sliding window or neighboring segments. This video is just a clip of a chapter I'm about to post with narration. I'll try to clarify better in the final version! Thanks again for your feedback

When taking triples is that abutting triples or overlapping ones or does it make no difference? I found the end of the video hard to take in, there was the captions, the pop-up bubble, and the scrolling digits; I re-wound several times to see if I was missing anything.

would u please send me the precise sequences so i can "replicate" your results - and examine some other questions: eg what would you infer after 10, 20 30 .....observations on each sequences (ie short finite sequences) - we'll also check out whether count frequencies for sequences of length 1,2,3,4,5...etc "agree"

Brilliant! I've seen the guess-which-sequence-is-random activity for eons, but never the elegant idea of looking at the frequencies of sequences of three. It's great to see something my students can both compute and comprehend that so clearly distinuishes the two! Thanks!

Hey Alison!

Thanks for your feedback. Are you a teacher? If so I'd love to hear how your class responds. Yes, I used "odds" in this case to attract attention of people interested in games.
You are correct though, I should label this Probability...

This is great! But not the way odds are commonly defined (in the USA, at least). I think you meant probabilities.

Odds are generally defined as

(number of favorable outcomes) : (number of unfavorable outcomes).

So, if the odds of something are a:b, the probability will be a/(a+b).

Still, I will probably be showing this in my stats class.
